Location: NYC - 2020

THE BRIEF:

Create multiple digital interactives designed to celebrate the core elements of baseball.  Highlight MLB’s latest creative output, and present new, exciting perspectives on familiar aspects of the game.

I worked on this from pitch, to production, to installation. I did a lot of look development for the pitch under the creative direction of Angela Greene. In production we collaborated with the studio Rare Volume to develop the look further, and create a robust system to showcase baseball’s history and greatest players as well as the latest highlights from across the league.

CONCOURSE:

On the three-story Concourse wall, projection-mapped elements integrate high-resolution media into the faceted architecture of the wall. The diamond design evokes the infield, & serves as a frame for footage.

During the pitching phase and design development, I produced many design options. Into production I tested MLB’s footage at scale to see what would hold up on such a large projection surface.

6TH FLOOR RECEPTION

At the 6th Floor Reception a 30-screen media array activates the space. I designed and animated over 30 minutes of media for the LCD wall. I animated 3D logos for each team, as well as mascots and green screen footage. I also created branded takeovers, using the whole wall as one canvas.

LED SLATS:

The LED Slats are composed of low resolution LED bars mounted behind a plastic veneer that resembles blonde wood. I created a system for what MLB footage works well on this display, and what does not.

8TH FLOOR RECEPTION

The Wonder Cabinet has synced media elements. Two blank jerseys surround a central LCD Display. The corresponding team jerseys are projected into the display depending on which team highlight is playing on the LCD. There was also a story mode, highlighting famous plays of yesteryear.
